The 20010/2011 Shining Light collection continues to be of great interest to the world and this is evident in the fact that its travel requests are on going and its schedule changes weekly.

Below please find a report of the recent activities -

March 2011

The collection left for Hong Kong (at the request of Forevermark HK) for the Asian Film Awards.

April 2011

The collection exhibited for three days at the International Diamond Manufacturers Conference which was held in Gaborone (Botswana). The conference was extremely well attended by DTC UK officials, local DTC and De Beers offices, local Government officials, a selection of Sightholders and other industry stakeholders.

May 2011

In May the collection was double booked for two very different and yet very special events so a decision was taken to split the collection so as to not miss out on either opportunity

50% of the collection was sent to Antwerp for the Antwerp Diamond Conference where it was the main feature at the Gala Dinner held on the second night. This was a major coup for the collection as it had NEVER been to Antwerp – what a fabulous debut!

50% of the collection was sent to India. Adorne Magazine (an Indian Fashion Glossy) requested the collection for a 6 page shoot (cover and inside pages).
See shoot photos below.

June 2011

We celebrated the magnificent DTCB SLA Launch. This event took place on the evening of 7 June in Gaborone, Botswana and was hosted by Brian McDonald (DTCB MD) and Varda Shine (DTC CEO). click here

June 2011

Another coup for the collection! We were invited to exhibit at the Harry Oppenheimer Museum in Ramat Ghan (Israel). The collection has not been to Israel for over 5 years. The museum director, Kassif Yehuda, put together a strong and focused PR campaign around the exhibition. The press release issued by the museum was printed in industry newpapers and webnews around the world.  . A reception in honour of the exhibition took place on June 29, 2011 amongst the invited guests were  Varda Shine, CEO DTC (who also delivered a few words); Mr. Shmuel Schnitzer, Chairman of the Board of the museum; Mr. Moti Ganz, Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute Group (IDI), Mr. Avi Paz, President of the Israel Diamond Exchange and Mr. Eli Avidar, Managing Director of IDI. The “All about Diamonds” exhibition is open to the public from July through September.

The opening reception was also covered on TV, please click here to view the website.

July 2011

The NDTC SLA collection was loaned out of the museum (above) for a week as it was due home for the 2011 Miss Namibia Pageant that was held on 30 July 2011. The current NDTC SLA collection was worn by all 10 finalists and the previous NDTC SLA collection was worn by the MC and Judges.
Once again, thank you all very much for your support and investment in the Shining Light initiative.
Until the Q3 report,
