Enduring Bonds - the theme for the 2010 Shining Light competition has given further substance to the value the DTC’s trusted partnerships foster. These relationships go far beyond business, and this is illustrated through the bond/partnership this competition develops between the DTC Clients - the sponsors of the pieces, our neighbouring diamond producing countries, the entrants across all three participating countries, the manufacturers across the globe and our Forevermark global markets.



November 2009: the Shining Light journey began with entry form presentations taking place regionally across South Africa (Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban), Botswana (Gaberone) and Namibia (Windhoek).

March 2010: just under 1000 entries were submitted across all three participating countries and that is when the Preliminary Judging took place and the final 30 winning pieces were chosen – 10 from Namibia, 10 from South Africa and 10 from Botswana.

April 2010: the 30 winning pieces are currently in production at various leading manufacturing centres around the world – India, South Africa, Namibia, Italy and Botswana.

July 2010: the completed pieces will be judged and an overall winner per country will be announced.

It is incredibly heartwarming and rewarding to be part of a competition that significantly develops and encourages new relationships right down the value chain. This competition is a shining example of how truly great things can happen with the right partners.
